Blueprint of First Revolution Cultural Park

The planned scope of First Revolution Cultural Park includes an area with Snake mountain at north ,Hubei theater at west, Pengliuyang Road and Wuchang Road at south.It occupies 8ha.containing 4 ha.of main park and 4 ha.of surrounding green area and parking places.

The outlay of the First Revolution Cultural Park boasts two axes—the north-south memorial axis and the east-west cultural sight axis, which meet at a large parterre characterized by an image of eighteen-star flag.

From south to north ,there are red comber ,bronze status of Sun Zhongshaneighteen-star flag parterre and Huangxing Baijiang platform

Red chamber memorial area centers red chamber with tall ever-green arbor plants at two sides and newly built First revolution memorial woods and first revolution memorial park to create a severe atmosphere.

Green Square boasts eighteen-star flag parterre at center assuring blooming flowers at any season by adoption of man-made heat preservation technology.

First Revolution Sculpture park includes sunken square, embossment wall,Pengliuyang status and other memorial sculptures.

Art sight refers to a open performance zone of 11000 square meters on the east of Hubei theater, to hold modern open-door art performances and exhibition.

Five projects will break through the traffic bottleneck. North square and south square will be combined together, how should we deal with traffic?

The urban plan department planed to implement 5 public transport projectsamong which the most important one is the underground tunnel under First Revolution Square.

Five projects are as follows:

1 Yuemachang tunnel

Yuemachang tunnel is a straight underground tunnel. A-roads to Yangtze River Bridge will cross First Revolution Cultural Park in front of Red Chamber .The tunnel has four lanes twoway roadswith a total length of 1165meters,width of 22meters. It could separate passengers and vehicles to ensure the integrality of First Revolution Cultural Park.

2 Yangtze River Bridge Ramp

To organize traffic through Yangtze River Bridge to First Revolution Cultural Park,Hubei Theater ,Yellow Crane Tower and old city area of Wuchang and release pressure on Yuemachang tunnel, 2 ramps will be built to connect the newly built ‘City Road’.

In addition, two loading ramps will be built between Red Chamber and Snake Mountain to transfer buses and tourists vehicles.

3 City Road and Tunnel(Elevated Bridge)

City Road –from Pengliuyang Road to Zhongshan Road--in plan is 1560meters long and 40-50meters wide, in which the tunnel through Snake Mountain and Beijing-Guangzhou Railway is 150meters long and the Elevated Bridge across Minzhu Road is 200meters long.This road will take up the vehicles down from Yangtze River Bridge to the old city of Wuchang.

4 Expansion of the ancient drum-tower cave and the surrounding roads around First Revolution Cultural Park.

It is planned to expand Wuchang Road from one-way road to two-way road and expand drum-tower cave tunnel.

5 Related Projects

It is planned to build two green parking lots totaling 330 parking places on the east and west sides of the park and set up bus stops on Pengliuyang Road, Wuluo Road and under Yellow Crane Tower around the park.

It is reported that the traffic project will implement in stages to ensure the smooth traffic of Yangtze River Bridge and the opening up of Yellow Crane Tower.

In the future it aims to foster First Revolution Cultural Zone

First Revolution Cultural Zone is in the area of Yuemachang and Ziyang Lake,fully covering the uprising routes and range of the First Revolution in 1911.

We plan to take the advantage of the existing historical remains of First Revolution in order to build the First Revolution sight axis constituted by Snake Mountain, Red Chamber, Theme Square, Ziyang Lake Park and Uprising Gate.

In the future, on the basis of Snake Mountain,Red Chamber and square, Ziyang Lake and Uprising Gate will be built up on the south, fostering a large-scale First Revolution Cultural tourist attraction which embodies both historical heritages and modern styles, in spirit of First Revolution and with integrated functions of memorial, tourism and leisure.

The overall outlay focuses on two axes—the north-south memorial axis and the east-west cultural sight axis,which meet at a large parterre characterized by an image of eighteen-star flag.

According to experts’ proposals and the rehabilitation of councilors’ mansion, a pedestrian overpass will be built between Red Chamber and Snake Mountain. It will be covered with green plants to ensure the green integrality of Snake Mountain and Cultural Park. Meanwhile, First Revolution memorials altar will be constructed on the south slope of Snake Mountain to foster the highlight spot on the axis.

Yuemachang overpass is one of the important eight road overpasses to be built in Wuhan. It is of significant to improve traffic condition across River and around Yellow Crane Tower,Hubei Theater and Red Chamber. After repeated testifying on traffic,history ,culture and natural environment , experts confirmed the scheme taking straight underground tunnel as main body. A-roads to Yangtze River Bridge will cross First Revolution Cultural Park in front of Red Chamber .The tunnel has four lanes two-way roadswith a total length of 1165meters,width of 22meters. It could separate passengers and vehicles to ensure the integrality of First Revolution Cultural Park.

The newly built unloading ramp connected to Pengliuyang Road on the right serves the vehicles from the old city area and buses down from the bridge. It also serves as the round way in the tunnel construction period. The newly built two-roads loading ramp on the north of Red Chamber, and on the south of Snake Mountain serves buses and tourists vehicles going through the bridge.The drum-tower cave will be expanded for the convenience of vehicles from north of Snake Mountain getting through the bridge. Bus stops will be displayed along Pengliuyang Road,Wuluo Road and under Yellow Crane Tower for tourists to get to Hubei Theater , Yellow Crane Tower and First Revolution Square. The construction of Yuemachang overpass will combine the north and south square as a whole, changing the situation of being separated by roads.

This zone is to be built as ‘Cultural Tourist Attraction and city representative zone’.The overall plan is primarily to build First Revolution Cultural Zone and Yellow Crane Tower Park as two famous tourism brands in Wuhan. First Revolution Cultural Park plans to begin tunnel and overpass projects, Cultural Park green and light projects, remove projects of Hubei Provincial Education Institution and its sounding area. The total budget is 0.489billion RMB.
