Project 3 ADI Production Base

ADI as a important invention in metal castling and smelting in 20th century ,has promoted technological advancement in mechanical manufacture and the related areas. We should continue to innovate and popularize this technology in the new century in order to achieve much larger social and economic effects.

1Curren application of ADI in China

China is one of  few countries which first researched and applied ADI. In the mid 1970s,ADI was applied in truck gear wheel.Over 100 thesis on ADI　were presented in the National ADI Academic Seminars in 1987,1991,2002. According to the current ADI production, the products could be divided into several categories:1 Common instruments used in mining,construction, electric power ,agriculture and ect,such as、scaleboard 、hammerhead、hammer plate.2Automobile parts, of cars ,tractors ,trains and ect. Those parts usually needs processing. The original material for those parts are forged steel、cast steel、ductile iron、Malleability Cast Iron , Aluminium alloy and ect.3 key parts with high performance and high accuracy ,the typical parts are high performance multicylinder diesel engine crankshaft and gear wheels .Because those parts are important parts of the whole mechanic structure, they highly require the material performance and production measurement accuracy, poising a strict demand for processing such as founding,heat treatment,inspection and ect. However, there is no manufactures producing those kinds of parts in batch.

II Hubei Mechanical and Electric Engineering Research and Design Institution

Breif

Hubei Mechanical and Electric Engineering Research and Design Institution listed ADI research and production as the key program in “10th year plan”.Tt devotes nearly 10 researcher in this field tracking the most recent development in ADI. Hubei Mechanical and Electric Engineering Research and Design Institution was approved to found “Hubei ADI Promotion Center” by Hubei Science and Technology Office on April,2002.

III Establishment of ADI Research and Development Center

To ensure the advancement of ADI research and production ,this institution started the construction of ADI Research and Development Center.

The main contents are as follows:

1 Founding Laboratory,with 300square meters new workshop ,necessary founding equipment to achieve annual production capacity of 60 tons.

2 Heat treatment Laboratory,with 200square meters rennovated workshop ,a  isothermal quenching heat treatment automatic production line achieving annual production capacity of 180 tons.

3  Inspection Center,with 500 square meters new workshop and a set of inspection instruments.

After more than one year’s construction, Founding Laboratory has been set up and put into production, equipments in heat treatment laboratory has been installed and debugged.It is expected to complete and put into production.

IV. Development of ADI products

Since the beginning of this year, this institution has enhanced research&development and production.

1 Programs in processing

1 YT28 ADI technology service program with Luoyang Fengdong Instrument Co.Ltd. We have accomplished the technology preparation and on-the-spot technology service stage, advancing to the trial- production stage.

2 Development of detent ADI casting 

We signed contracts with Sichuan Youji Industrial Co.Ltd to export Detent made of ADI， ASTM  A897/897M-03  1050-7 to U.S.We have accomplished the trail-production of sample parts which has been send to the American Part ,waiting the inspection result.This product reaches the required mechanical performance by a strictly-controled casting procedure and proper heat treatement technics without adding Ni、Mo alloy.The production cost is reduced by 2000RMB per ton.

3 Lawn Mower Blade

This institution has signed contracts on trial-production of lawn mower blade (ADI meterial)with a company of Holland, trying to use ADI lawn mower blade replace forged steel blade .This project has finished technology preparation and mould manufacture.We are trying to put into production and come out with products in small quantity. After its accomplishment, we could have production order of 80-100tons annually.

V Necessity of building up ADI production base

Upon the current market demand, the first stage construction plans to achieve annual ADI casting production of 5000tons.ADI price (excludes processing fee ) in China is about 10000-14000RMB/ton, while the ADI price overseas is 14000～35000 RMB/ton. ADI Pneumatic Pick Housing produced by the institution is only one third priced comparing with the same products made in Britain. The quality ,technology and performance price ratio are highly competitive in ADI market both international and domestic. We would like to cooperate with enterprises which are interested in this production base project , to build top ADI production base in China.
